This lecture demonstrates the most frequently occurring benign type microcalcifications that are localized outside the ducts and TDLUs.
The analysis of microcalcifications detected on the mammogram starts with determination of the anatomic cavity within which the calcifications are located. The malignant type calcifications are either localized within the TDLUs or in the major ducts. When the analysis concludes that the microcalcifications are localized outside the ducts or TDLUs, we call them miscellaneous calcifications, i.e. findings that do not represent malignancy. This lecture demonstrates the most frequently occurring miscellaneous calcifications.
